Environmental Commitment
At Miaowito, we believe creativity has the power to shape a better world, and that includes protecting the one we live in.
As a studio committed to ethical and sustainable practices, we’re aligning our work with the Albert sustainability goals (BAFTA’s environmental sustainability initiative). We are actively working to reduce our carbon footprint, cut waste, and inspire positive environmental change through the way we work and the stories we tell.
Here’s how we’re putting that into action:
Remote-first, low-impact production: We minimise travel by prioritising remote collaboration and digital workflows wherever possible. When travel is essential, we aim to use low-carbon transport options and offset emissions responsibly.
Energy-conscious choices: We use energy-efficient hardware and cloud platforms, and seek out partners and suppliers who demonstrate strong sustainability practices from their power sources to their packaging.
Waste reduction: As a digital-first studio, we reduce physical waste by default, but we also apply sustainable thinking to digital clutter — managing data storage, server usage, and rendering processes responsibly.
Ethical use of technology: We’re excited by the possibilities of new tools, including AI, but we are also mindful of their environmental cost. That’s why we’ve made a clear commitment: we will never use large-scale generative AI for creative work, and any research into AI for mechanical or planning tasks will be done with sustainability front and centre.
Carbon action and measurement: We are working towards tracking and measuring the carbon impact of our projects in line with Albert's guidance, and will actively seek to reduce our emissions at every stage of production.
Empowering our team: We believe change starts from within. Our team is encouraged to make sustainable choices in their day-to-day work, and we provide resources and training to support that.
Telling better stories: Wherever we can, we aim to weave sustainability into our storytelling, creating content that reflects our values and helps shift the cultural narrative toward a greener future.
We’re proud to be part of a creative industry that’s taking climate responsibility seriously. Our goal is to work towards the standards set by Albert certification, and to be transparent and accountable as we grow.
This is an evolving journey, and we’re always open to new ideas, partnerships, and ways of doing better. Creativity shouldn’t cost the Earth and we’re committed to making sure it doesn’t.
