Sara Barbas

Sara Barbas grew up in Portugal - by the beach - reading Brazilian and Belgian comics, and watching Japanese, North American, Spanish and Eastern European animation. Sara knew from a very young age that she wanted to work in animation - she just didn’t know how. Today, big Sara is an award-winning writer, director and creative producer with 20+ years’ experience in the animation industry - having worked with studios such as Aardman Animations, the BBC, Tumblehead Animation, Animanostra and world-renowned brands such as Wallace and Gromit, Creature Comforts America, Shaun the Sheep, Morph, Moominvalley and Legends of Evergreen Hills. Sara has also written and directed award-winning short films that received production funding from ICA - Instituto do Cinema e do Audiovisual Portugal. Miaowito was created to honour little Sara’s big dreams.
