Zainab Balami

WRITER AND CREATIVE PRODUCER - (she/her)

Zainab Balami is a freelance animation creative producer, scriptwriter and founder of Zazou Production Works, a boutique company focused on creating original, culturally rich animated IP. Passionate about championing underrepresented voices, Zainab tells inclusive, empowering stories that celebrate global diversity. She leads The Adventures of Zaza, a flagship series co-produced with Yoruba Saxon and Argo Films.

With deep expertise in character development, world-building and episodic storytelling, Zainab crafts narratives designed to inspire young audiences and reshape global storytelling through authentic and engaging content.

Her portfolio includes consulting as a scriptwriter with students at Gobelins Paris for a joint UNESCO–Michel Lafon project and producing short-form content for organizations such as UNICEF (U-Report), WaterAid, FHI360 and ActionAid.

Zainab actively contributes to the children’s media sector as Industry Liaison Executive at the Children’s Media Foundation (CMF) and serves on the executive board of CMA-Africa as Brands & Communications and Partnership Director.
